PRG Newsletter – June 2026 by Performance Running Gym

 

May was an incredibly exciting month to be a part of the PRG community! We cheered clients to big PR’s at the Med City Marathon, Brian Kraft 5k, CityTrail Loppet and Superior Spring Trail Races (among others), saw our race team grow and enjoy getting outside for workouts after a long winter, and hosted some of the biggest group runs in the history of the gym. We also saw a nice influx of new faces at PRG, most seeking to get stronger for their season ahead, or prep for big summer or fall adventures.

We also had the backdrop of what is developing into one of the most exciting racing seasons in the history of the sport. Just over a week after the 2-hour marathon was broken, we saw Rachel Entrekin post a massive course record to take the overall win at the Cocodona 250. It was a wild two weeks at two polar opposite sides of our sport – but with equal inspiration injected into our commuity at large.

In this issue, we have some awesome content that I know you will enjoy and find useful in seeking your own goals this season! We have our first “workout buddies” edition member spotlight, a guide on tapering from Dr. Michael Rodriguez, and a Trainer Tip on heavy lifting for female athletes from Coach Fran – who we’re excited to welcome back to in person sessions this month after being on maternity leave since January.
